Eggs Up Grill opens 50th location, 20 more expected

The COVID-19 pandemic may have crippled some restaurants, but Eggs Up Grill has been on the move.

The Spartanburg-based brand has reached 50 locations with the opening of restaurants in Richmond, Va., and Winter Garden, Fla., according to a news release.

Sales have also increased by 10% since 2019, a record for a company that has grown an average of 25% each year.

“Over the last 18 months, Eggs Up Grill reimagined our business and created new revenue channels,” Ricky Richardson, CEO of Eggs Up Grill, said in the news release. “Through those changes, and the unparalleled work of our franchise partners, our performance is better than ever as we set new sales and growth records.” 

The brand added enhanced technology to simplify takeout and delivery options, and has gone virtual this year with a Biscuits, Bowls and Burgers brand available only on third-party delivery sites. The new restaurants feature to-go stations allowing for the pick-up of online orders and delivery services.

Eggs Up Grill also added mimosas to its menu in the spring and reports beverages now make up 4-8% of restaurant sales.  

“Integrating these changes has made our already successful Eggs Up Grill experience — the one that attracts guests to our brand in the first place — stronger than ever,” Richardson said in the release. “I’m very encouraged by the strong sales trend we are seeing with our restaurants outperforming 2019 sales by more than 10% year-to-date, exceeding 20% this summer.”   

By year’s end, Eggs Up Grill is expected to expand into Alabama and Tennessee, growing its footprint across eight southeastern states. Development underway includes 20 new Eggs Up Grill openings in 2022, according to the release.
