Russian Lunch and Learn at The Cook’s Station with Alexei Khimenko

How many times have you sampled chardonnay with a Bolshoi ballet dancer raised in Moscow? In case that answer is none, you can stop by The Cook’s Station today from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 515 Buncombe St. in Greenville to taste four flavors from My Story Wine Co.’s palette with founder Alexei Khimenko. 

The wines originate from the company’s vineyard in Paso Robles, Calif., and will be accompanied by a light lunch prepared by Craig Khuns. The cost of the event is $30 per person.

Cherokee museum launches tasting series with silent auction

The Cherokee County History and Arts Museum has invited Haley Grant of Traveling Vineyards to bring her wares to a tasting Thursday at the 301 College Drive venue in Gaffney from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 and early visitors will have a private viewing of the museum’s Twentieth Anniversary of 9/11 exhibit. 

A full table can be purchased for $160 and individual tickets at $20. Attendance will be limited to 50 seats.

Sippin' In Simpsonville planned for Sept. 17

The Simpsonville Chamber of Commerce and Weichert Realtors will host a tasting tour of Simpsonville’s downtown shops, live music, local cuisine and vino on Sept. 17. According to a news release, the event usually sells out and limited quantities of the $30 tickets remain.

CityScape Winery takes guests behind the scenes Sept. 25

Resident winemaker Josh Jones will offer an hour tour of the Pelzer vineyard and its winery production area at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25. The $15 even includes a glass of locally-produced wine and souvenir glass. Cityscape Winery and Vineyards Is located at 589 Dunklin Bridge Road in Pelzer.

Urban Wren’s monthly wine tasting masterclasses

Urban Wren, the winner of four Best of the Upstate awards in 2021, has kicked off a series of five wine tasting master classes for the fall and winter with a session highlighting Washington State’s vintages on Tuesday. Each session, lasting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., is open to reserved guests with a 30-person limit per session at 116 N. Markley St. in Greenville.

Tickets are $15 per person. The next sessions are on Oct. 5 (with a focus on wine from Alsace, France), Dec. 7 (Napa Valley cabernets), Jan. 4 (Rioja, Spain) and Feb. 8 (Southern Rhône, France).

Eagle Mountain serves up charcuterie, vintages

One of the newest additions to the Upstate’s wine scene, Eagle Mountain Vineyards and Winery, has been introducing its offerings to the Upstate with a private “Wine and Food Experience.” Guests can sample five of the venue’s selections with a glass of their favorite alongside a charcuterie board. 

Reservations must be made ahead of time. The winery is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. and is located at 2330 SC-11, Travelers Rest.
