Dominion Energy will open its public parks on the Irmo and Lexington sides of the Lake Murray dam for the 2022 recreation season beginning Wednesday.

The beach and recreation area on the Lexington side will remain open through Sept. 5. Parking fees for all vehicles on both sides will be $5, with season passes available for $50 per vehicle.

“Many people look forward to visiting Lake Murray every summer to enjoy this beautiful recreational site in the Midlands of South Carolina,” Billy Chastain, manager of Lake Management for Dominion Energy South Carolina, said in a news release. “We urge everyone to put safety first. Be careful while swimming in the lake and follow boating safety rules.”

The boat launch area on the Irmo side of the dam is accessible to the public 24 hours a day year-round, with parking fees collected April 13-Sept. 5. The recreation area on the Lexington side will be open from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Monday through Friday from April 13-May 1 and from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday from May 1-Sept. 5. Weekend hours are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Alcohol and pets are prohibited at both facilities, and no lifeguards will be on duty at the beach site. Swimming is not allowed at the boat launch.
