The New Realm Brewing Co. Greenville facility will be the brewery’s fourth location.

The development of the brewery and restaurant will include an outdoor dining pavilion and a covered event area with minor exterior and full interior renovations. New construction will take place on an empty lot at the intersection of South Main and Wardlaw streets, according to a New Realm press release. Once complete, the 11,000 square-foot facility will include a five-barrel brewhouse, scratch restaurant, biergarten, dedicated stage, outdoor bar, and will be home to New Realm’s launch of its sour and barrel-aging program.

“A sours program has always been in our plans, and myself, along with my team, is looking forward to having a facility dedicated to this kind of beer making,” said Mitch Steele, New Realm co-founder and brewmaster. “Our plan is to produce these beers using traditional Belgian methods including multistage fermentation with a host of yeast strains and bacteria that provide unique flavors, acidity levels and aromas in the final beer and we cannot wait to introduce to the lineup.”

Much like New Realm’s other locations in Atlanta, Virginia Beach and Charleston, Greenville will feature the brewery’s handcrafted lineup of award-winning craft beers and limited specialty releases created and brewed by Steele, who is recognized as one of the craft beer industry’s best brewers and has helped drive brewing industry innovation for several decades, the release said.

“We announced our plans for Greenville close to one year ago,” said New Realm CEO and Co-founder Carey Falcone. “Seeing our vision begin to come to life in this amazing community is super exciting for our entire team. We have been working closely with the city and the Greenville Design Review Board. Our plan preserves the historic character of the existing building, while adding signature New Realm nuances.”

New Realm’s new Greenville location is expected to create more than 100 jobs, and the company is focused on positively impacting the communities in which it operates, and environmental sustainability, supporting local and independent craft communities, and the art and science of craft brewing and distilling, the release said.

The Cigar Warehouse was built in 1882 and was originally used as a warehouse to store cotton and cigars. After a full restoration, the building is now an historic Greenville landmark. In keeping with the history of the site, New Realm will maintain the exposed brick and intimate lighting that has given the warehouse a rustic and stylish atmosphere for many years, the release said. New Realm is working with Greenville-based McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture to add a scratch kitchen and brewery as well as indoor and outdoor dining and meeting spaces.

New Realm is an American craft brewery and distillery that started in 2016 by co-founders Falcone, Steele, and Bob Powers.
