Bands announced for St. Pat’s in Five Points in Columbia

An eclectic lineup of bands has been announced for St. Pat’s in Five Points, one of the Southeast’s largest St. Patrick’s Day festivals.

The festival, which has been going on for 41 years, will take place beginning at 10 a.m. on March 18.

“For more than four decades, St. Pat’s in Five Points has been a pinnacle in our community,” said Heather McDonald, executive director of the Five Points Association. “We work hard throughout the year to make sure the music lineup is eclectic and something everyone can enjoy — from indie rock and alternative, to country and Americana, there’s something for everyone at St. Pat’s.”

St. Pat's in Five Points draws about 30,000 people annually and brings in an estimated $7 million to Columbia and Richland County, according ti a bews release.

General admission tickets to the festival can be purchased online for $25 in advance until March 17 or $30 at the gate.

The festival will feature 20 bands across four stages. Headliners include Moon Taxi, Nate Smith, Drivin N Cryin and Hippo Campus.

Two headliners – indie rock band Moon Taxi and country artist Nate Smith – hail from Nashville, while indie rockers Hippo Campus hail from Minneapolis. Georgia-based folk rock band Drivin N Cryin has been together for 35 years and is a favorite of fans in the Columbia region, having performed at festivals and concert halls there for years.

Other performers include Charleston-based bands Doom Flamingo and Stop Light Observation, and George Fetner and the Strays, a rock and folk group based in Columbia. A complete lineup of performers can be found on the festival’s website.

The festival will also include the “Get to the Green” 5K, 10K and one mile family fun run, a parade starting on Devine Street at 10 a.m. and a Kid’s Zone with balloon artists, magicians, and carnival rides.
