Electrolux is adding a third shift to its new facility in Anderson, with plans to fill 350 positions by July and an additional 450 by October.

Staffing firm HTI will oversee hiring, which is underway now. The company will host a job fair with Electrolux on June 27.

The 800 new jobs are in addition to 500 new hires announced in March, according to HTI. About 1,800 people were working for Electrolux in Anderson before the March announcement.

Electrolux invested $250 million to modernize and expand production at the new 800,000-square-foot facility, which includes four new production lines.

In several announcements made since 2017, Electrolux said it was closing one of two Anderson plants to create one highly efficient plant. The company also closed a Minnesota plant to move freezer production to Anderson.

Electrolux closed one Anderson plant as planned but put it back into production when the expansion project bogged down late last year. Jonas Samuelson, president and CEO of the Sweden-headquartered company, said in a December conference call that the slowdown affected capacity companywide, but the efficiency of the new plant would make up for it by the second quarter of this year.

When fully operational, the Anderson plant will have a capacity of 3 million units annually, the “largest we have anywhere in the group,” Samuelson said. Electrolux brands also include Frigidaire and AEG.

Positions being filled between now and October include team leads, process workers and maintenance technicians, as well as temporary and temporary-to-hire positions for machine operators, assemblers, braziers and materials handlers, according to a news release.
