SCRA has recognized Recleim LLC as its 2018 SC Launch Company of the Year.
Jill Sorenson, director of entrepreneurial programs at SC Launch, presented the award at the second annual SC Launch Summit in Columbia, attended by more than 175 entrepreneurs, government officials and investors.
The appliance recycling company specializes in closed-loop resource recovery. The process is able to recover approximately 95% (by weight) of appliance components while safely disposing of hazardous chemicals.
In March, Recleim received a second investment from SC Launch to grow its flagship facility in Graniteville. The company was ranked 456th on the 2017 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in the U.S. and ranked first among environmental services companies.
“We founded Recleim to help revitalize Graniteville while preserving the environment,” Steve Bush, Recleim CEO, said in a news release. “Our priority remains empowering businesses and organizations to become leaders of social and environmental change.”
Criteria for the award included the global and state impact of a company’s product or service. Distilled spirits producer Terressentia won last year’s inaugural award.
“We are honored to recognize Recleim as the gold standard for entrepreneurial companies in South Carolina.” Bob Quinn, SCRA executive director, said. “The company is committed to making an impact at the local and global levels, which is inspirational.”
Recleim operates two additional manufacturing facilities and nine logistic hubs across the eastern U.S.
