Pair of Pee Dee business owners face tax charges

Two Pee Dee business owners have been arrested on unrelated tax charges.

According to the S.C. Department of Revenue, Almeda Myers Graham, owner of a Darlington County home health care business, failed to pay $28,801 in taxes withheld from employees’ paychecks for tax years 2014 through 2018.

Graham, 55, is charged with five counts of failing to pay withholding taxes due to the state. She faces a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000 for each charge.

Luther Dale Hutchins, 59, of Bennettsville is also charged with failing to pay withholding taxes due to the state. Hutchins, the owner of an employee leasing company, failed to pay $112,995 in taxes withheld from employees’ paychecks for tax years 2016 through 2019, according to a news release from the revenue department.

Hutchins faces four charges of failing to pay withholding taxes due to the state and a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000 for each charge.
