Nexsen Pruet opens Texas office

Nexsen Pruet, a regional law firm with offices in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston and Myrtle Beach, has opened an office in Texas.

The expansion is the 75-year-old firm’s first outside of the Carolinas, according to a news release, and is designed to allow its agribusiness attorneys to better serve clients across the country. For decades, firm attorneys have represented clients within the Farm Credit System, which offers financing for food production projects, rural homebuying, health care providers, schools and other agriculture-related businesses and cooperatives.

Attorney Matt Ormiston will lead the Austin office.

“Pat Brown and David Gossett transformed agribusiness financing in the U.S. when they contemplated and created the Rural America Bond Program,” Leighton Lord, Nexsen Pruet board chairman, said in the release. “The seeds they planted years ago have grown exponentially, so we are pleased to be opening a Texas office with Matt at the helm.”

Before joining Nexsen Pruet, Ormiston served as associate general counsel for a cooperatively owned wholesale funding bank within the Texas Farm Credit District. He earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University.
