Bosch Rexroth Corp. plans to invest $5 million in a new off-highway equipment testing area at its hydraulics manufacturing operation in southern Greenville County. The expansion at Southchase Industrial Park will allow Bosch Rexroth’s engineers to test their products on customers’ equipment.
“Greenville County has been an excellent partner for us as we’ve grown to meet the sophisticated needs of our customers in the Americas,” said Mike McCormick, vice president and technical plant manager.
“Having grown from one manufacturing plant opened in 1989 to adding its third in 2011, Bosch Rexroth is without a doubt an anchor of and major contributor to Greenville’s economic base,” Greenville County Council Chairman Bob Taylor said.
The German company has its U.S. headquarters in Charlotte and another production facility at Bethlehem, Pa.
S.C. Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said the expansion makes the company’s Fountain Inn operation its “engineering and product development center for the Americas.”
The expansion announcement did not reference new jobs. Kevin Landmesser, senior vice president at the Greenville Area Development Corporation, said Bosch Rexroth has already exceeded previously announced plans to invest $80 million and hire 160 people over five years.
