Lexington, Ky.-based electrical contractor Amteck LLC has acquired Columbia-based cable designer Communication Management LLC.

The companies have worked together on several recent projects, including China Jushi’s $11 million fiberglass manufacturing facility in Columbia and Toray’s 700,000-square-foot carbon fiber manufacturing plant in Moore.

CMI has 75 full-time employees, all of whom will be retained, according to a news release.

“CMI is a perfect example of an exceptional business that brings incredible opportunity to expand our technologies service offering,” Amteck CEO Daren Turner said. “The CMI team has the right expertise, in an expanding market, with a great group of talented people.”

CMI, founded in 1986, has four S.C. offices providing high-performance cable design and installation for education, government, manufacturing and health care industries.

“We are thrilled to join the Amteck family,” former CMI owner and CEO of CMI Jon Buring said. “Their family atmosphere, down-to-earth approach, passion for quality work and customer satisfaction matches CMI's culture. With these important principles, we all stand to prosper.”

Earlier this year, Amteck acquired Greenville-based electrical automation design company Proformance Group Inc. as well as Southeastern Automatic Sprinkler, a fire solutions company in Mississippi.
