Less than a year after establishing its first U.S. facility in Newberry County, KRA Operations LLC is investing $23.5 million to expand its Prosperity plant.
The move will help the metal stamping and injection molding facility meet a growing demand for home appliance parts, according to a news release from Central SC Alliance. The expansion will add 191,209 square feet to the existing 105,000-square-foot facility and is expected to create 120 jobs.
“It was an honor to establish our company in Newberry County of South Carolina last year,” Wonyoung “William” Chang, KRA Operations president, said in the release. “We are excited for the expansion of our company for the future business venture. It is our hope that we will contribute more for the community as we expand our business.”
KRA Operations, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Precision Co. Ltd., began operations at the Newberry County facility in August 2020 with an $11.5 million investment and 57 positions.
“For a company to triple the size of its facility and workforce just a year after the facility first opened is almost unheard of,” said Henry H. Livingston, III, Newberry County Council chair. “We’re always delighted to help our industrial partners grow, and we view this expansion as a vote of confidence in Newberry County.”
Construction on the expansion has begun and is expected to be completed in late 2021. Employment information is available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or at the company’s hiring office at 130 Mid-Carolina Court in Prosperity.
