The Columbia Fireflies will provide a donation to The Miracle League of Columbia as part of Giving Tuesday, a global day of charitable giving celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

The Miracle League provides an environment for children with mental and physical handicaps to play baseball. Players have a buddy who helps them at bat and in the field.

In conjunction with sponsor Bush’s Baked Beans, the Fireflies will donate $1,000 to the organization.

Salsarita’s to play host to food drive

Columbia’s newest Salsarita’s located in the Killian’s Crossing shopping center will play host to a food drive for the Salvation Army of the Midlands on Dec. 5. Donations of non-perishable items, including peanut butter, baby formula, pasta, juice and canned fruits and vegetables, are encouraged.

The all-day event will include a gift card for free chips and queso, good for use on guests’ next visit, in exchange for a food donation. Kids will also eat free that day from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a purchase of an adult meal.

Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill is located at 1033 Roberts Branch Parkway, Suite 101.
