Helping Out highlights some of the many charitable events and activities going on in the Charleston area. Submissions should be sent to [email protected].

The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center raised more than $575,000 at its 18th annual dinner and auction Feb. 2 at The Cedar Room. The money raised will be used to support the services Dee Norton offers, which include on-site forensic interviews, medical examinations, mental health assessments and immediate support and care coordination.

The Glass Onion is hosting a Charity Night at 5 p.m. Tuesday, with 10% of all dinner sales benefiting Lowcountry Street Grocery, a mobile farmers market.

Slow Food Charleston is scheduled to host a community potluck from 3 to 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at Low Tide Brewing. Participants are encouraged to bring a seasonal, locally inspired dish to share. Plates are available with a $10 donation.

Slow Food Charleston is also offering grants, including a $1,000 SnailBlazer prize and a $1,000 scholarship to Lowcountry Local Works Growing New Farmers program.

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League is scheduled to host the 41st annual Symphony Designer Showhouse from March 14 through April 15 at 142 Tradd St. The house will have 12 decorated spaces designed by local and national interior designers.

Advance tickets are $20 through March 13, and $25 at the door. Tickets to the preview party on March 13 are $95. Proceeds benefit the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and fund music scholarships. 

Darkness to Light is holding its inaugural golf tournament on April 9. The event includes a round of golf on the Ralston Creek course at the Daniel Island Club. The tournament will begin with lunch at noon followed by golf and a cocktail reception. Registration and sponsorships are available online.
