AnMed’s Camellia Ball celebrates silver anniversary

Glenn Constructors will present the 25th Camellia Ball at The Bleckley Station in Anderson, on Saturday, Feb. 2. This year's theme is “An Elegant Evening in Winter’s Green.”

This year marks the ball’s 25th anniversary. Since 1994 the Camellia Ball has raised more than $2.5 million to meet some of the most vital needs in the community, according to a news release. For the past 18 years, the black-tie event has benefited AnMed Health's Pediatric Therapy Works, a group dedicated to providing specialized therapy for children with developmental delays and disorders.

 

Black History Black Tie Dinner scheduled

Felicia Sanders, survivor of the shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, will be the keynote speaker on Feb. 8 at the African American Leadership Society of United Way of Anderson County’s annual Black History Black Tie Dinner at Tucker’s Restaurant.

Sanders’ son Tywanza and aunt Susie Jackson were among the nine killed in the shooting in 2015.

The Emerging Leader Community Award, Community Trailblazer Award and Community Legacy Award will be presented during the event.
