Electrolux donates air conditioners
Electrolux recently donated Frigidaire room air conditioners valued at more than $230,000 to needy families battling summer heat. The air conditioners were distributed across five Upstate counties, according to a company spokesperson.
The Swedish company donated the air conditioners in honor of its South Carolina employees who will soon begin operating a new refrigeration facility in Anderson County. Electrolux announced the $200 million expansion plan in May 2017. That number was revised to $250 million in the donation announcement.
Although the company said the 800,000 square feet of new space will modernize their Anderson County facilities and create an “opportunity to expand production,” they have said no new jobs are directly tied to the project.
The company is one of the county’s largest employers with more than 1,800 workers. Electrolux employs 54,000 people around the world, according to a news release.
