A fund established to help people in South Carolina recover from disasters is collecting donations to help the state’s victims of Hurricane Dorian.

The Central Carolina Community Foundation One SC Fund will provide the donations to nonprofit organizations that are helping South Carolinians recover from Hurricane Dorian.

On Sept. 5, Hurricane Dorian passed off the South Carolina shore as a Category 3 storm, causing flooding and wind damage along the coastal counties.

The One SC Fund was established by former Gov. Nikki Haley after the historic flood of 2015. The fund provides grants to state nonprofits that provide relief, recovery and rebuilding assistance to residents and families who have been affected by a disaster.

Since it was founded, the One SC Fund has awarded more than $4.8 million in grants to nonprofits and has provided relief and recovery assistance to over 25,250 people statewide. All of the money donated goes directly to Hurricane Dorian relief efforts.

Donations can be made online or to Central Carolina Community Foundation, 2142 Boyce Street, Suite 402, Columbia, S.C., 29201. Checks should be made payable to Central Carolina Community Foundation-One SC.
