The Ark, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services will host its 10th annual Dancing with The Ark’s Stars fundraising event on March 14. All proceeds will go toward the organization, which provides services for families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Eidson Gym at Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville. Local celebrities will be paired with professional dancers from Ballroom Dance Charleston to compete for the Judges’ award and the People’s Choice Award as voted on by audience dollars. Votes are $10 each and can be cast in advance.

Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door. The evening includes an open bar, silent auction and hors d’oeuvres.

The Puerto Rican Cultural Society of South Carolina and Proyecto 78 will host an earthquakes relief drive from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Cane Bay YMCA in Summerville. Donations will be collected to aid the victims of more than 1,300 earthquakes that have struck Puerto Rico in recent weeks.

Items needed are listed online. Donations must be new and nonperishable and cannot contain any liquids.

Donations can also be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays until Jan. 31 at Job Impulse, at 5325 Park Forest Parkway in North Charleston.

All monetary donations will go toward one of Proyecto 78’s initiatives to purchase tents, tarps and other gear for Puerto Rican families.
