Folly Beach-based nonprofit Warrior Surf Foundation is holding its Wave-a-Thon through Aug. 31. All donations will go toward the organization’s Adaptive Surf Therapy, which provides veterans with a free 12-week program focusing on positive psychology, resiliency and strong mental health.

Surfers across the country can register online and share their personal fundraising pages with friends and family to earn donations for each wave they catch. Participants who raise $100 will get a T-shirt; those who raise $200 or more will get a hoodie.

Durant Consulting Inc. is providing customized online auction management services for one randomly selected Lowcountry nonprofit. Entries must be completed by July 31 to be eligible for the drawing. The selected nonprofit must be able to hold the auction by Dec. 31.

Trio Solutions Inc., a Mount Pleasant-based marketing communications agency, will provide free advertising and marketing services to four Lowcountry nonprofits for 24 hours during its 14th annual CreateAthon on Oct. 29.

Applications will be accepted through Aug. 14. Applicants must fill out a written form and are encouraged to submit a 60-second video about why their organization should be selected.

An additional “People’s Choice” organization will also be chosen through social media beginning Sept. 7. Winners will be announced Sept. 14.

Local businesses are encouraged to contribute to the CreateAthon efforts by donating food or drinks or sponsoring decorations for the event.

Early bird registration for the 21st annual Race For The Ark is open through Aug. 20. Proceeds will benefit The Ark in its work providing support services to families living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia.

The event funds programs such as memory screenings, resource fairs, education workshops and support groups in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester and Orangeburg counties, plus respite centers in Harleyville and Summerville.

The race on Aug. 22 will include a 5K run and a 1-mile fun run. Both races begin and end at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, at 206 Central Ave. in downtown Summerville. The 5K begins at 7:45 a.m., and the fun run begins at 8:45 a.m.

Awards will be given to the top three overall female and male winners, as well as in several age groups. The first female and male runner to break the course records will also be awarded $100.

The virtual Charleston Beer Fest will take place at 6 p.m. July 16. Hosted by Yelp, the festival will include local breweries and crafters sharing insights and trends about beer culture.

Participants can tune in to the event by visiting the festival’s Instagram account. The Brew Cellar in Park Circle will be selling a curated six-pack that will include beers from participating breweries for this event. The beers will be available for purchase Monday through from July 16.

The in-person Charleston Beer Fest is still planned for Sept. 26, hosted by Palmetto Community Care, an organization supporting those living with HIV.
