The Preservation Society of Charleston will continue its Fall Tours this year, with measures put in place to ensure the safety of homeowners, volunteers and guests. The program includes Piazzas, Porches & Gardens Tours, Curated Garden Tours, Curated Hard Hat Tours, Photography Walkabout and Workshops, Morning History Walks and Talks, and virtual tours.

Reservations should be made in advance; tickets are limited.

West Ashley’s Bintelli Powersports has donated to Lowcountry Food Bank to cover 71,700 meals for those in need. In the two years that the business has been open, Bintelli has donated 100,000 meals locally.

Customers can drop off donations at the retail store at 2137 Savannah Highway in Charleston.

Lowcountry Local First has partnered with Home Telecom to create a Small Business Relief Grants program to aid business owners affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With Home Telecom’s initial donation of $50,000, the two organizations are working toward gathering donations to double the fund.

Locally owned and independent businesses headquartered within the tri-county region can apply for grants of $1,000 or $2,000 to use toward business operations. Eligibility criteria will focus on smaller businesses that are ineligible for federal aid.

Applications will be reviewed weekly by a small committee until the threshold has been met.

Crews Chevrolet will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday in its showroom at 8199 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. The event is a part of the Summer Drive to Save Lives campaign through the S.C. Automobile Dealers Association and American Red Cross of South Carolina.

Those who donate will receive free COVID-19 antibody testing and a complimentary oil and filter change and tire rotation.

Crews Chevrolet and Crews Subaru have helped collect nearly 525 units of blood from March 15 to Sept. 15, impacting more than 1,500 lives through the Summer Drive to Save Lives program.

Sweetgrass Pharmacy & Compounding is offering to donate hand sanitizer to area nonprofits and organizations that serve the community. Containers range from 16 ounces to 5 gallons and can be picked up at 1952 Long Grove Drive in Mount Pleasant.

Lexus Charleston Fashion Week has partnered with Hendrick Lexus Charleston to host Hometown Heroes, an event honoring frontline workers.

Those whose lives have been touched or saved by a first responder can nominate a police, fire, or health care professional deserving of recognition. Submissions close at 5 p.m. Oct. 5.

Three first responders will be chosen to receive a gift bag from local retailers, a shopping spree and dinner for two.

Four Charleston-area residents took part in a project to improve the dental health of underserved students in rural South Carolina as a part of the 2020 class of Leadership South Carolina.

Kits containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and oral health brochures are being distributed to 10,000 students in 24 schools in Allendale, Hampton, Summerton, Dillon and Manning.                   

Graduates include state Rep. Marvin Pendarvis; Brent Arant, an attorney with the Joye Law Firm in North Charleston; Lauren Campbell of Mount Pleasant, an analyst with Pinnacle Financial Partners; and Shawn Saulsberry, an adviser in finances and business transformation with Ernst and Young in Charleston.
