Lowcountry Veterans is hosting its first benefit gala on Nov. 5 aboard the USS Yorktown. All funds generated from ticket sales will directly support Lowcountry Veteran’s programs that provide housing, food, medical care, transportation and support for homeless and at-risk veterans.

The event will be held in the Hangar Bay, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the event running from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Guests will enjoy live music by the David Higgins Band and DJ Bone, an open bar with wine, beer and spirits, hors d'oeuvres, charcuterie and desserts from Top Shelf Catering, a photo booth, silent auctions, raffle items and sunset views of the Charleston Harbor.

The headlining sponsor for the event is Home Loans Inc., a veteran-owned mortgage and brokerage firm. Other sponsorship opportunities are still available and needed.

Now through Dec. 12, Charleston-area McDonald’s restaurants are raising money through the drive-thru to benefit local Ronald McDonald House Charities. This is the second year the fundraiser is being held.

Customers will be able to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or choose to give $1, $3 or $5 to benefit the cause. Customers can also make donations of $1, $3 or $5 by placing their order through the McDonald’s app.

The goal this year is to raise a total of $2 million.
