Duke Energy Foundation gives $20K grant to Chapman Cultural Center

The Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg has received a $20,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support the center’s STEAM programming. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

The center’s Advantage: Arts and Science program works to integrate the arts into K-12 curricula in Spartanburg County, while exposing students to visual and performing arts experiences. The program also provides teachers with the knowledge they need to make the arts an integral part of their teaching toolkits, according to a news release.

With this funding, the Chapman Cultural Center will offer two programs: The Muse Machine and Artist Residencies. These programs connect students to the arts through live performances and classroom-based interactions with experienced, professional artists, the release said.
