Several organizations have already signed leases in the center, including the S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, Charleston County Vital Records, Franklin C. Fetter Family Health Center Inc. and the Tri-County Intergroup Office, which supports Alcoholics Anonymous.
The Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center will provide workspaces for doctors and school therapists, as well as a telepsychology center, the news release said.
“The addition of this key tenant is yet another step toward our vision of creating a comprehensive social services hub for the community under a single roof in the heart of Charleston County,” Chicora Life Center manager Doug Durbano said in the release.
Bennett Hofford Construction Co. is expected to upgrade the mental health center, including adding a new HVAC system, by Dec. 1.
