The Furman Co. (Furman Development) said in a news release Allen Lund Co. will lease approximately 5,600 square feet of office space at 711 W. Washington St. in Greenville. The Greenville location will join the company’s 37 offices across the United States.

The Borden building — which was purchased in 2019 — is currently in redevelopment, with approximately 42,000 square feet. The Furman Co.’s intent to preserve the historic buildings that were once home to the Borden ice cream factory. The original Borden building structure dates to 1923. The developer wanted to keep “Borden” as the name of the modern urban office park because of its history and to embrace what the site already has to offer.

Stephen Navarro, president and CEO of The Furman Co., said in the news release, “Bringing a tenant of Allen Lund’s caliber to the Borden building brings our vision of the redevelopment to life. The goal of this development is to breathe new life into an iconic historic building, while rediscovering its vibrancy.”

The property’s proximity to downtown Greenville’s Main Street and nearby amenities like Unity Park are what makes the Borden building an attractive location for new and expanding businesses, said Navarro.

“We are thrilled to relocate our Greenville office to the Borden building,” said Allen Lund Co.’s Office Manager Jeff Story. “Furman Development has done a great job at reusing the space and making it something that’s state of the art. The amenities surrounding the office property are just fantastic. In terms of live-work-play, it covers all the bases.”

CBRE Inc.’s Blaine Hart with its advisory services group handles the leasing responsibilities for the Borden project on behalf of The Furman Co. Laura Harmon, Rich Grande and Kyle Berdugo with Cushman & Wakefield represented Allen Lund in their transaction. Commercial spaces are still available at Borden, ranging from approximately 2,000 to 15,000 square feet.
