Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has broken ground on its third Columbia metro location, this one in Irmo at 10611 Broad River Road.

Freddy’s made its Columbia debut at Killian’s Crossing last year and opened a second location in West Columbia near Lexington Medical Center.

“The feedback that we have received from our first two area sites has been extremely positive, so we look forward to bringing Freddy’s closer to guests in Ballentine/Irmo,” said Brett Rickert, franchise owner, in a news release. “Our proximity to I-26 makes us a convenient lunch or dinner spot for guests driving to and from Columbia.”

The 3,010-square-foot, freestanding restaurant will seat 96 guests, with additional patio seating. A drive-thru service will also be available. Freddy’s is known for its steakburgers, hot dogs and fries, as well as a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard.

“A consistent dining experience will always remain one of our top priorities,” Rickert said. “We know that many of our guests have standard orders, so our team strives to make sure that no matter what part of the city you are in, you can count on your Freddy’s favorites to deliver the same great taste.”

Co-founded in 2002 by Scott Redler and Bill, Randy and Freddy Simon, Freddy’s opened its first location in Wichita, Kan. Now, 292 Freddy’s restaurants serve 31 states from California to Pennsylvania.
