The former Dianne’s on Devine restaurant at 2400 Devine St. has been sold to Hickory, N.C.-based Backstreets Bar & Grill.

The casual dining restaurant will open a new location in the space, according to a news release from NAI Columbia, which facilitated the transaction.

Backstreets was previously eyeing a location at 3600 Devine St., receiving a variance and a special exception for parking last May.

Patrick Palmer, NAI Columbia principal and director of retail services, represented the seller in the $975,000 sale.

Backstreets, which opened in 1996, features American fare and the motto “Great Food. Good Friends. Bad Parking.”

Dianne’s closed in 2013 after more than 20 years. Fine dining restaurant Tallulah opened in the location in early 2017 but closed last June.

Columbia-based Cason Development Group worked with Backstreets during efforts to establish the 3600 Devine St. location but is no longer involved with the project, development associate Frank Dougherty said. He referred further questions to Cason Development Group president Frank Cason, who was out of the office and did not immediately return a message.

NAI Columbia also facilitated the sale of 4.76 acres across from Chapin High School. Senior brokers Tombo and Tom Millliken represented the seller in the $840,000 sale of property on Columbia Avenue and Ellett Road.
