A popular Columbia bakery has moved to a new location in the Five Points district.

Sweet GG’s Bakery was originally located on Fort Jackson Boulevard but has now moved to 631-B Harden St. in Five Points.

The new location was marked with a grand opening ceremony with  City of Columbia leaders on Friday, April 21.

Owner Nayo Harvin, a self-taught baker, started Sweet GG’s in September 2021. The bakery is named after her maternal grandmother Gertrude and paternal grandmother Geneva, who were both talented bakers, according to Sweet GG’s website.

Harvin is an entrepreneur who has been baking for more than a decade and decided to share her craft with the public. She pursued baking while also working as a full-time teacher for 14 years.

“I started off with one delicious pound cake recipe and built this entire bakery off of delicious cake, very supportive family and friends and the help of my do-it-all husband,” Harvin says in an online writeup.

Sweet GG’s offers a wide assortment of cakes, cookies, cupcakes, dipped pretzels and treats, and other baked goods. The bakery also offers vegan options.

Sweet GG’s is open for appointments only Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
