SCRA’s entrepreneurial investment program, SC Launch, has given $200,000 to Extremiti3D LLC, a prosthetics company based on Johns Island.

Extremiti3D works with prosthetics professionals and amputees to create prosthetic sockets and covers through digital scanning and 3-D printing, which allows for customization for each patient.

The company has been an SC Launch client company since 2016. The SC Launch program provides mentoring, grants and investments to S.C. companies in the advanced materials, information technology and life sciences industries.

Barry Hand, co-founder and CEO of Extremiti3D, said the investment will be used to fund product development and improve workflow processes, as well as to grow the business.

“Extremiti3D is utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques to provide custom products to amputees,” said Bob Quinn, SCRA executive director. “The work they are doing is having a tremendous impact on their customers.”
