First launched 12 years ago as Blue Acorn, the digital commerce UX design and strategy agency became Blue Acorn iCi in 2019 when it merged with iCiDigital. Together they created a business based on digital customer experience with 300 employees, including engineers, data scientists, digital commerce experts, designers and strategists.

Two years prior, the company was acquired by Beringer Capital, a private equity firm.

The co-CEOs announced the company’s second change of hands on Oct. 8, this time aligning with Infosys, an India-based technology company that provides digital services and consulting to clients in 46 countries.

“This acquisition is a terrific fit for Blue Acorn iCi and, importantly, we are strengthening Infosys’ end-to-end customer experience capabilities across North America and are deepening capabilities in the Adobe, Magento, Salesforce Commerce and Shopify ecosystems,” Guerra and Boone said a statement.

While the companies differ in size and culture, the co-CEOs said that they chose to go with Infosys because it’s one the most respected companies that provides the services it does at a global level.

“By becoming a part of the Infosys family, Blue Acorn iCi will be able to better serve our clients and their customers as we elevate our scale, technical acumen, global reach, creative capabilities and consumer insight expertise. Together, we will be able to offer unrivaled services and insights to help companies become the new leaders of digital experience and commerce,” Guerra said in a statement.

In its own news release, Infosys said that the acquisitions of Blue Acorn iCi, as well as its earlier purchase of marketing company WongDoody, bring complementary services to chief marketing officers and businesses.

“We are focused on partnering with global brands and CMOs to help them navigate their digital experience and commerce challenges,” Infosys President Ravi Kumar S said in a statement. “The Blue Acorn iCi acquisition is another important milestone in Infosys’ journey to build capabilities relevant to the digital priorities of our clients and reaffirms our commitment to the Adobe ecosystem. We are excited to welcome Blue Acorn iCi and its leadership team into the Infosys family.”
