DEW launches mobile app to monitor unemployment claims

A new mobile app will allow users to certify their weekly unemployment claims and monitor their claim status.

The free, downloadable S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce app lets users complete weekly certification requirements from their smartphones. Claimants can also check claim status and payment history as well as see documents and correspondence from DEW.

“We are very excited about bringing this app to life,” Dan Ellzey, DEW executive director, said in a news release. “As an agency we are continuously looking for new, innovative ways to allow claimants to feel connected to and invested in their claim’s process. This is just one more way the agency is leveraging technology to improve the user experience.”

Ellzey said more features will be added to the app, which can be found by searching for “SC DEW” app in users’ app stores. Push notifications can be enabled to allow updates on program news, deadlines and requirements.

For now, initial claims will still need be submitted and documents uploaded via computer or mobile internet browser at dew.sc.gov, the agency said.
