GSP Airport District reports an increase in passenger traffic for the fourth consecutive month. January traffic statistics show nearly a 7% increase compared to the same time period in 2017.

GSP reports 154,489 passengers in January 2018 compared to 144,635 in January 2017 — a 6.8% increase, according to a news release.

The number of passengers going through the airport in December 2017 increased 12.1% over December the previous year. And in October, the airport saw the passenger number exceed 200,000 in a single month for the first time in its history.

“It’s an exciting trend for GSP. We have consistently seen more passengers and we are prepared for those numbers to keep climbing,” said Dave Edwards, GSP Airport District president and CEO, in the release.

The airport reports an increase of 34.5% in cargo traffic compared to January 2017.

“This continued growth in cargo traffic supports the initial investment that the district made when launching Cerulean Aviation, the division of the organization responsible for handling cargo traffic,” Edwards said. “These are just January numbers. We have every confidence that this trend will continue in 2018 making it one of the best years ever for GSP.”
