Bike lanes along the Farrow Road corridor will be temporarily closed in both directions as an area bicycle and pedestrian improvement project is evaluated.
The city of Columbia requested that the S.C. Department of Transportation close the lanes until a final decision is made regrading the Farrow Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project from Columbia College to E. Campanella Drive. The lane closures will be in effect until further notice to ensure that motorists do not drive in those lanes while other factors related to the project are considered, the city said in a news release.
“We have heard the concerns expressed by citizens in the community and we are moving expeditiously to put next steps in place and thoroughly evaluate the situation,” city manager Teresa Wilson said. “Options regarding the next steps in this process are being discussed, and any decisions regarding this matter will be shared with the residents in the surrounding communities.”
