Memorial service to be held Tuesday for Meekins

Listen to this articleA memorial service for Russell Meekins, the executive director of University Foundations at the University of South Carolina, will be held Tuesday.
The service, which is open to the public, will be held at 10 a.m. at the USC Alumni Center at 900 Senate St.
Meekins, who earned degrees in accounting and finance from USC, was instrumental in developing the university’s Children’s Center, the Inn at USC, the Gamecocks’ baseball stadium and the 650 Lincoln student housing development. He died on Dec. 23.
Tuesday’s service will feature music and tributes from university and community leaders. Memorial donations can be made to the newly established Russell H. Meekins Carolina Scholar Fund.
Parking will be available in the Park Street Garage on the corner of Park and Pendleton streets. Shuttles will also operate from the USC campus.
