Spring was in the air on Friday in Columbia as was the pollen, drifting like soft, sneezy rain from tree branches, settling onto storefronts, parking meters and unsuspecting strands of hair.

From the Statehouse to Busted Plug Plaza, 70-degree sunshine greeted the weekend as people escaped offices to read on benches or stroll down Main Street.

There are plenty of entertainment options on tap this weekend, including Saturday's River Rocks music festival and Sunday's inaugural Columbia Food and Wine Festival. The Columbia International Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday at the State Fairgrounds, while the S.C. State Museum is having a yard sale on Saturday morning. (Don't tell my mother.)

The 2018 Indie Grits Festival is also happening this weekend with more than 80 films on tap, as well as a full lineup of musical and art performances.

Martin Lawrence is playing the Colonial Life Center on Saturday, while the second annual Soiree on State will shine the spring spotlight on Cayce.

Whatever you do this weekend, have a good one, Soda City.
