The BrickUniverse Lego Convention begins Saturday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The two-day event will feature artists and attractions from around the world.

The Columbia convention will also feature a 5,000-plus piece Lego model of Williams-Brice Stadium created by University of South Carolina alum David Robinson and his son, David Jr. The pigskin project took three months to complete and features a logo at midfield, green turf and the videoboard in the west end zone.

Paul Hetherington will display five award-winning creations at the event, including his “Batman vs. Joker Gotham Theatre Showdown,” which was named 2016 Lego Creation of the Year by The Brothers Brick, an online source of Lego news and reviews.

Greyson Beights, founder of BrickUniverse, said on his website the convention began in March 2015 in Raleigh, N.C. After its Columbia run, the show will travel to Ohio, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Morning and afternoon sessions will be held Aug. 11 and 12. Tickets for each session are $15 and can be purchased online.
