A’ja Wilson will be the keynote speaker for the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network’s third annual state summit in April.

The former Gamecock basketball great and current star for the WBNA’s Las Vegas Aces will speak at the summit, to be held April 1 at the Columbia Museum of Art.

A'ja Wilson will be the keynote speaker at WREN's 2019 state summit. (Photo/Provided)Wilson, the 2018 WNBA rookie of the year who led the Gamecocks to the 2017 national championship, is the founder of the A’ja Wilson Foundation and an advocate for women’s empowerment and equal pay.

 “We knew A’ja Wilson would be the inspirational voice to encourage South Carolinians to build individual and collective commitments to closing the gender and racial wage gap and accelerate women’s economic empowerment in South Carolina,” network CEO Ann Warner said in a news release.

The Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network’s 2019 summit will include workshops and sessions addressing issues such as leadership development and salary negotiation.
