State seeking nominations for environmental award

South Carolina is seeking individuals who do extraordinary work for the environment. Nominations for the S.C. Environmental Awareness Award, established by the General Assembly in 1992, will be accepted through Jan. 31.

The award recognizes contributions made toward the protection, conservation and improvement of South Carolina's natural resources. Nominations will be reviewed by an awards committee including representatives of the state’s Department of Health and Environmental ControlDepartment of Natural ResourcesForestry Commission and the Sea Grant Consortium.

Nomination guidelines and forms, as well as a list of previous award winners, are available online.

Clemson University professor Patrick McMillan, creator, writer and host of SCETV nature program Expeditions with Patrick McMillan, won the most recent award.
