Nine University of South Carolina School of Law alumni have received 2018 Compleat Lawyer awards.

The awards, established in 1992, represent the law school’s highest recognition of professional achievement and civic leadership. Recipients are nominated by members of the South Carolina Bar or the public and are chosen by a committee that includes the chief justice of the S.C. Supreme Court, the chief judge of the state Court of Appeals, the president of the S.C. Bar, the law school dean and the co-chair of the Law School Alumni Council.

“The recipients of this year’s Compleat Lawyer Awards include trailblazers, leaders of national and state organizations, and are all deeply involved in giving back, both to the profession and to their communities,” School of Law dean Robert M. Wilcox said in a news release. “They are excellent examples of what it means to be a Compleat Lawyer, and we are proud to celebrate their successes.”

The awards are given in three categories based on years in practice: platinum (31 years or more), gold (16 to 30 years) and silver (15 years or less). The winners will be recognized at the law school’s 26th Annual Compleat Lawyer Awards Ceremony on April 19.
