On the Menu provides the latest news from the Charleston area’s culinary community, including new restaurants, new menu items and upcoming events, as well as details about local chefs. Submissions should be sent to [email protected].

Executive pastry chef Amanee Neirouz, of Tristan Catering & Events, 492 and Ms. Rose’s Fine Food & Cocktails, has focused on healthier dessert options. Menu items include avocado-based chocolate sorbet, gluten-free carrot cake, coconut sorbet and gluten-free chocolate chip cookies.


Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. is participating in several events in the next several weeks to launch statewide distribution. Dates in the Lowcountry include:

All events are open to the public, and some will include giveaways.


Partida Tequila is presenting the National Margarita Day Bar Crawl on Thursday. Participating restaurants include the Gin Joint, Cocktail Club, South Seas Tiki Lounge, Pancito & Lefty and Sol Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar’s downtown location. Each location will include an original Partida margarita special.

Guests who order the specialty margarita through Thursday will receive a passport card and a stamp from that location. Those who receive five stamps from all participating locations can email a photo of the completed card to collect a prize.


Poogan’s Hospitality Group is hosting its rescheduled Pig Roast and Bourbon Sip from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Revelry Brewing. The event will include a whole hog barbecue, beers and bourbon samples.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. All proceeds will be donated to Feed the Need, a nonprofit organization that works with Lowcountry chefs and restaurants to provide food for local homeless shelters and soup kitchens.


Edmund’s Oast Exchange is scheduled to host Barrel-Aged Beer School from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event will be led by advanced cicerone Brandon Plyler. During the class, attendees will learn the roles that wooden barrels can take on in the production of beer. Tickets are $20.


The Moncks Corner Rotary is scheduled to host the 4th annual Taste of Berkeley event from 7 to 9 p.m. March 2 at Old Santee Canal Park interpretive center. The event will include local cuisine as well as wine and beer pairings.

Tickets are $25 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Rotary’s scholarship fund for high school seniors.
