On the Menu provides the latest news from the Charleston area’s culinary community, including new restaurants, new menu items and upcoming events, as well as details about local chefs. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.
Participating establishments include Smoky Oak Taproom, Toast, Morgan Creek Grill, Roadside Seafood, Saltwater Cowboys, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Wando River Grill. Each restaurant will compete for the People’s Choice Award, Judge’s Choice Award and a $500 grand prize for best shrimp and grits.
Individuals can enter the contest as well.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. There will be a cash bar. VIP tickets include oysters and a private VIP area; tickets are $40.
The restaurant also updated its happy hour menu, which now includes sliders, burger dogs, hotdogs and drink specials.
Professionals in the fields of hospitality, tourism and manufacturing will speak with students about the opportunities in their industries. Students will create their own tacos with a recipe from Jim ’N Nick’s.
Swig & Swine is scheduled to host an oyster roast and pig pickin’ from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 18 at the restaurant’s Mount Pleasant location, at 2379 S.C. Highway 41. The event will include live music, axe throwing, a whiskey bar and beer.
Admission is $35 per person, which includes unlimited oysters and whole-hog barbecue.
Charleston Hospitality Group has opened its fourth Toast location at 1150 Hungry Neck Blvd. in Mount Pleasant. Formerly Fill Restaurant & Piano Bar, the 2,400-square-foot restaurant offers an 18-seat bar and outdoor seating. The new location is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.i
