A Travelers Rest-based ice cream parlor has opened a new location on Augusta Street in Greenville.

Pink @ Pickwick, is taking over the soda fountain parlor at Pickwick Pharmacy, while the Odom family will still own the pharmacy and retail. Pickwick has been a neighborhood pharmacy and soda fountain for more than 75 years.

The new Pink Mama’s location opened Wednesday.

Pink Mama’s Ice Cream’s original location, Traveler’s Rest Ice Cream Parlor, which is located on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, opened eight years ago and is open all year round. They have another brick-and-mortar location in Easley — Pink Mama @ Easley Silos, which opens for the season on March 3 — in addition to their Pink Mama’s Ice Cream Truck. Pink Mama’s started out of ice cream trucks in 2009 and has since expanded to three physical locations, while maintaining three trucks.

Pink Mama’s owner Jessica Randall said Pickwick reached out to her, because they love her brand and thought it would be a great fit for the soda fountain at their pharmacy.

“We are very excited to have Pink Mama's Ice Cream operate the soda fountain at the Pickwick,” said Kelly Odom, Pickwick Pharmacy owner and registered pharmacy technician. “Pink Mama's has been a fixture here in the Upstate for quite some time. We look forward to her unique style and offerings that will surely elevate the dining experience at the fountain.”

When Pink Mama’s went from ice cream trucks to its Travelers Rest location, their only hope at the time was to make it as a business.

“But now it’s a scooptacular life,” said Randall.

The ice cream shop closed its Pink on Pleasantburg location at the end of December to start this new venture, as they felt it would be a better opportunity for them since they are already doing so much in the Augusta community by going to schools and homes to do private parties with their ice cream trucks.

“I love that we can expand and offer an extension of what we normally do,” said Randall.

At the new soda fountain location, Pink Mama’s offers Duke Sandwich spreads, hot dogs and other lunch items.

“I feel like every person in this industry would love to have an opportunity to be at a soda fountain,” said Randall. “It’s so cool and nostalgic, and I think we will be a great addition to the pharmacy.”

At the ice cream parlor, you can find more than 24 ice cream flavors, waffle cones, ice cream sundaes, shakes, floats and malts, and seasonal options. Vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free treats are also available.
