Vino Garage will be moving from its current location at 2327 Main St. in a little more than a week. Owner Doug Aylard decided not to renew his lease in order to find a bigger space for his boutique beer and wine shop.

“The main reason for the move is we have outgrown the building,” Aylard said Wednesday. “We could have stayed, but we would not have the space to allow us to make the changes we want.”

Doug Aylard opened Vino Garage in Cottontown in 2012. The wine shop is moving to a bigger location. Aylard’s plan for the new building includes a wine bar, a limited food menu and an event room to hold wine classes and other social gatherings.

Vino Garage helped pioneer the revitalization of North Main and the Cottontown area when it opened in 2012 in a refurbished transmission shop. Aylard said he is currently in talks with a landlord about a building that will allow him to stay in the North Main area.

Vino Garage’s current location will remain open until July 20. Aylard said he hopes to have the new building ready for customers by the end of September.

“We don’t have to do much upfitting to the building, so hopefully it won’t take too long,” Aylard said.
