The Richland County Board of Elections & Voter Registration will unveil its first absentee ballot drop box Wednesday afternoon in the lobby of the voter registration office at 2020 Hampton St.
The drop box, created in conjunction with the computer assisted design technology program of the Heyward Career & Technology Center, is designed to give voters an opportunity to return their absentee ballots at their convenience without the need for postage. It will be available during the period of absentee voting, which begins 30 days prior to each statewide primary and general election, until the close of polls at 7 p.m. on election days.
The drop box will be located in front of the voter registration office.
