On Feb. 9, online grocery marketplace Shipt and retailer Target will begin same-day delivery of an in-store assortment of groceries, essentials, home, electronics and other products in Greenville, Columbia and Charleston.

Shipt hires people to do clients’ grocery shopping and then deliver those groceries to their homes. Customers order and pay for groceries through the service’s app. They pay a monthly or annual subscription fee for the service.

Shipt launched in Greenville in 2016. It also offers delivery from Whole Foods Market, Lidl and Publix.

“We are entering a new era of same-day delivery here at Shipt, marked by a sweeping expansion with Target,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt, in a news release. “Our partnership with Target will now allow for customers across the country to enjoy the benefits of shopping Target’s wide assortment with the personal touch of home delivery offered by Shipt.”

In addition to South Carolina, Shipt’s delivery partnership with Target includes stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
