A ribbon cutting and dedication of the Pavilions at Centennial Park at Fort Jackson was held Tuesday. The six pavilions, under construction for the last seven months, are a gift from the Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina.

The pavilions, valued at more than $200,000, help commemorate Fort Jackson’s 2017 centennial, according to a news release from the BIA.

Fort Jackson holds graduation ceremonies 47 out of 52 weeks a year, according to the release. The covered pavilions, built by BIA members Great Southern Homes, Mungo Homes, Essex Homes, Hood Construction and Covert Homes in partnership with the Building Industry Charitable Foundation, will provide meeting and celebration facilities for graduates and their families.

Centennial Park is a planned $3 million gateway to Fort Jackson announced in 2017. It is slated to include an amphitheater and a Pathway of Patriots feature highlighting Fort Jackson’s history.
