Countybank gifts $25,000 to new manufacturing center
Piedmont Technical College’s foundation received $25,000 from the Countybank Foundation for furnishings and equipment at the William H. “Billy” O’Dell Upstate Center for Manufacturing Excellence set to open in the coming months.
The building will offer additional classroom and lab space for the school’s industrial programs including machine tool technology, mechatronics and welding, as well as additional flex and training space for incoming manufacturers like Teijin, according to a news release.
“We could not be more grateful to Countybank and Greenwood Capital for their continued generosity to Upstate education,” Fran Wiley, associate vice president of development for the PTC Foundation, said in the release. “This new center on campus speaks to our progression in manufacturing that could lead to a generation of job opportunities in Greenwood.”
Aaron’s Inc. helps furnish Spartanburg Habitat for Humanity Home
The rent-to-own appliance and furniture store put $10,000 worth of furniture and appliances toward helping a Spartanburg mother and her two sons feel at home when presented a new home by Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg and Warrick Dunn Charities last week.
The home, the 180th residence unveiled by the former Carolina Panthers player’s nonprofit, was gifted as part of the organization’s “Homes for the Holidays” first-time homeownership program, according to a news release.
Aaron’s donation also went toward groceries and down-payment assistance for the family.s
