Countybank and Greenwood Capital gift $27,000 for United Way

(Photo/Provided)Countybank and Greenwood Capital donated $26,936 to the United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties as part of the organization’s annual Pacesetter Campaign. Individual associates from both groups pledged up to $16,936, and the Countybank Foundation stepped in to provide an additional $10,000 contribution, according to a news release.

The United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties serves families in need with financial assistance and support programs addressing food insecurity, childhood literacy and health care access, according to the news release.

“Partnering with United Way allows us to give back to our community,” David Tompkins, senior vice president and Greenwood market executive of Countybank, said in the release. “We recognize the importance of supporting United Way this year in their efforts to make the Upstate a better place to live.”

Stella’s Southern Brasserie hosts benefit dinner

Greenville’s Euphoria festivities are not quite over yet — even if the festival itself ended in September. Tonight, Chef Anthony Gray of Stella’s Southern Brasserie will serve a multi-course meal with cocktail pairings from Maker’s Mark Diplomat Sarah Poole. Proceeds from each $90 ticket will be used to purchase two meals for the Connect for Good GVL initiative, which connects food from local restaurants to those in need.

Denny’s raises $800,000 for No Kid Hungry

In its 10th annual fundraiser for childhood hunger nonprofit No Kid Hungry, the Spartanburg diner franchiser Denny’s raised $800,000 to purchase approximately 8 million meals.

From Sept. 11 to Nov. 3, Denny’s guests across the country could round up restaurant checks to the nearest dollar or donate $1 at checkout to the nonprofit, according to a news release. Since its first No Kid Hungry campaign in 2011, the company has raised $9.8 million for the nonprofit.

“We are honored to be making this significant donation to No Kid Hungry because no child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from," John Miller, CEO of Denny's, said in the release
