We’re hoping to party like it’s 2018

Remember a couple of years ago, when the economy was tripping along, and our biggest worries seemed to be how to build enough roads and homes and how to fill all the jobs that economic development efforts were pulling into our state and region?

Things have certainly changed over the past six months, and while we knew what happened 10 years before 2018 with the Great Recession could happen again, we weren’t planning for an extended health crisis as we lowered our debt, diversified our customer base and made sure we were investing only in real estate that we could mostly afford.

But here we are. Here’s an analysis of selected counties from 2018, the closest year of full data reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which represented a very strong, trending up kind of year for jobs and payroll.
