South Carolina CEO makes Forbes’ 2024 ‘Richest People in the World’ list

A Charleston developer has been named to Forbes’ “World’s Billionaire List,” which highlights the richest people around the globe.

Bob Faith, the founder, chairman and CEO of global real estate firm Greystar, ranks No. 511 on the list, with a net worth of $5.8 billion. (On Tuesday, Faith’s real-time net worth ranking climbed to No. 505).

French fashion and retail mogul Bernard Arnault and family topped the ranking with a net worth of $233 billion. Two Americans came in second and third, respectively: Elon Musk ($195 billion) and Jeff Bezos ($194 billion).

In 2023, Faith ranked No. 182 on the Forbes 400 Richest People in America list.

For three decades, Faith, who founded Greystar in 1993, has maintained oversight over all aspects of Greystar, including organizational structure, strategic planning, and company growth, its website states.

Faith received his bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Harvard Business School, and served as the South Carolina secretary of commerce from 2002-06.
