$3.4 million investment to create 35 jobs in Richland and Charleston counties

A $3.4 million investment by Charleston’s Rigging & Marine Hardware and Carolina’s Rigging & Crane is expected to create 35 jobs in Charleston and Richland counties.

The company, which supplies and manufactures wire rope, rigging and safety solutions for the construction, maritime, and energy and transportation industries, has outgrown its current facilities in both counties, a news release said.

“In 2018, we will be celebrating our 30th year in business, and we are laying the groundwork for the next 30 years and beyond,” said company owner Skip Sawin. “We live and work in a great state that continually does its part to bring manufacturers, jobs and new businesses to South Carolina. With this commitment and investment in South Carolina, we stand ready to support business growth here in the state and beyond.”

In Charleston County, Charleston's Rigging & Marine Hardware will expand into a purpose-built fabrication facility at the former Charleston Naval Base that will include a larger showroom and a crane and rigging safety training center. The new facility will create 18 jobs and is expected to be operational by summer.

In Richland County, Carolina's Rigging & Crane is moving into an existing manufacturing complex located off Shop Road, adjacent to Pineview Industrial Park. The facility will house a large fabrication area, a crane and rigging safety training center and multiple overhead bridge cranes. The expansion is expected to create 17 jobs.
